Event Details

The sixth Butcombe Trail Ultra takes place this year on Saturday 29 April in the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between six Butcombe Brewery pubs.

There are two race options – a 50 mile circumnavigation of the Mendips (2000m ascent) and a 56 mile version (2500m ascent) with a brutal climb up Cheddar Gorge to add to the challenge. The 56 mile race starts at 7am, an hour earlier than the 50 mile race.

Entry prices are £62 for the 50 miler and £68 for the 56 miler (with a £2 reduction for ARC or UKA affiliated members).

Entries are limited to just 100 lucky people for each race, to protect the landscape and support local communities.

Both races are qualifying events for the UTMB and sister races – the Butcombe Ultra races are designated ‘100k qualifiers’ for the new UTMB World Series.

Any profits made from the event are donated to the Mendip Hills Fund which supports local conservation and communities. In 2022, the Fund received £2,500 from the event.

The event is organised by the Town and Country Harriers (TACH – www.tach.org.uk), a Bristol-based running club with a passion for off-road running.
