Raise Awareness For Movember

Ashley Wilson runs for 24 hours

Ashley Wilson, head of campaign & creative at global sportswear brand Gymshark began the exploration of the limits of his mind and body at the age of 15 when he joined his local running club in Essex.

After a hamstring injury at 18 he took a year out, and eventually transitioned into more functional fitness and CrossFit where running took somewhat more of a backseat, but still plays a major role in his fitness goals as he regularly runs marathons and takes part in other running challenges to test the boundaries of the human body.

On November 9th at 6.30 pm, Ashley Wilson set off on his biggest challenge yet; run for 24 hours straight to raise awareness and funds for Movember, and more specifically male suicide prevention. The planning and preparation for this challenge weren’t what we might expect. It wasn’t organised months in advance followed by a strict training regiment.

Finish Line

There were no fueling and hydration trials beforehand. It was actually only decided on around two weeks before it took place, during a work meeting about what the team could do to challenge themselves and in turn have a positive impact. Ashley’s idea was to run for 24 hours straight around the business park, which of course got a few laughs from the team, before being set in place.
