14 August 2021 – Pre Race

Racingtheplanet competitors arrived in Tbilisi, Georgia at varying times over the last week with the final arrivals late on Friday night.  The final preparations included packing, re-packing, getting PCR tests done and other preparations.

The first official meeting was in Freedom Square to present their negative PCR test and board the bus to Camp 1 where they are spending two nights before the race as another COVID protocol.

In the words of racer Emily Stonehouse from the USAThe campsite is absolutely stunning. You can see the mountains in the distance over a small lake. There are some local shepherds tending their flocks and cowboys herding cattle. Beautiful place!”
