About Petzl

Over 50 years ago, drawing from experience acquired from caving, Petzl invented the first battery-powered headlamp, giving lighting where it’s needed, when it’s needed with all the benefits of ‘hands free’ functionality and they continue to look for the best solutions in performance, ergonomics, comfort, and reliability. This search for continual innovation since the first headlamp in 1973 produced the first LED powered TIKKA in 2001, reactive lighting in 2012 with the NAO and the HYBRID concept allowing you to use the rechargeable CORE battery or AAA’s.

Today there are over a dozen headlamps that make up the Petzl range, from compact lighting for everyday activities through to performance models for trail running and caving. The demands and the commitment of users are what guide Petzl’s approach with a focus on new products as well as improvements to existing ones, supporting you in your pursuit of the inaccessible.
