Manchester to Liverpool Ultra 2021

The eagerly awaited return of the GB Ultras race series of ultra-marathon events after a 14 month lay off due to the impact of COVID-19.  With a race series spread over the UK in England, Scotland and Wales, the differing response to the pandemic from each of the host nations saw the GB Ultras team sidelined regardless of the effectiveness of their social distancing measures.  While event organisers in England occasionally saw the light outside of the pandemic last summer and autumn, the GB Ultras race calendar was then focused on events in Scotland and Wales where only virtual events where permitted.

The 5th edition of the Manchester to Liverpool Ultra 50 mile on Good Friday 2nd April saw the start line outside the world famous Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford, home of the world famous Manchester United FC.

With bib numbers sent in the post to participants in advance of the event, there was then a dedicated drop off zone for participants, marshals in PPE, GB Race Tracker collection and a staggered start ‘Arrive and Run’ policy to welcome runners to the new world of COVID secure events.
