Kineon MOVE+ – Test and Review

"My recovery also felt easier to handle, and I was back out running just a few days later."

Like many other runners I have experienced niggles and injuries in my time. My knees can hurt and my calves ache after a satisfying run. However, a long-standing injury in my knee has prevented me from reaching my ultra running goals as quickly as I hoped.

Previous remedies have included taking painkillers, going to physio plus doing stretch and rolling exercises, but it’s always in the back of my mind that one run might cause me to have two weeks off while I hobble around in pain.

Kineon Move+ knee pain review

The Kineon MOVE+ spiked my interest when I discovered their new home LED laser therapy device. Their product uses red light therapy to help your body recover and decrease pain symptoms. They claim that over 70% of people who have used their products have reported that their pain has reduced, and endurance runner Nick Butter is a product champion.

“It gives me the freedom to train hard, and repair quicker. I’m able to see benefits during each run, with the knowledge that my cells are repairing faster and more efficiently. It’s a dream!

Since using the MOVE+ I’ve felt an improved difference in my day to day mobility and pain. It’s technology of the future.”

Red light and laser therapy sounded scary and futuristic when I first heard of it. However, it is widely used to treat pain. Instead of going to a doctor and going through the trouble of referrals, this device can work its magic whilst I wear it doing general household activities.

Kineon states “Compared to LED light therapy, laser therapy can penetrate deeper into the tissue to reach a depth of around 5-6mm, which means it’s ideal for treating deep-seated pain, like Osteoarthritis and cartilage damage.

The benefits of laser therapy are clear – it is a highly effective treatment for pain relief that is more effective than both traditional pharmaceuticals and non-medical treatments like massage, heat, and ice therapy. Due to the cost of laser therapy, it’s historically been limited to physio clinics or other high-end treatment practices.” Therefore the MOVE+ is a simple, and exciting, solution to having access to Red Light Therapy at home.

The Kineon MOVE+ comes in a handy rechargeable case with straps, three red lights, a charging cable, and six red light holders. Kineon suggests doing a skin test first to see if you’re sensitive to the light. After doing this, I found the device comfortable, much like a regular knee sleeve, with the bonus of looking like I’m in Terminator.

I live a pretty active lifestyle, however, I spend most of my time sitting down and working between long runs and dog walks. Now I’ve been using the device for a month, experimenting with it on different body parts, I have found the product really easy-to-use. You can set the lights to three different settings of five, ten and fifteen minutes and with one click of a button, all three red lights are off doing their job.

I wore the MOVE+ a few times a week for 10-minute sessions over several weeks. I used it while doing activities in the lead-up to an ultra marathon I am training for, for example, whilst doing the laundry, yoga, and even watching TV. Knee pain had become an uncomfortable part of my running life but after all of the MOVE+ sessions it had subsided significantly during training. I recently ran a marathon and found my knee barely hurt while running. My recovery also felt easier to handle, and I was back out running just a few days later.

Knee pain while running can be frustrating, and after years of stretching and painkillers, I was eager to find something different and this is my new solution. Now I can limit the amount of niggles and aches I experience when I run.

Overall I found the device was easy to set up and use, and the straps can be changed to fit any part of my body. It is a good investment if you’re looking for a new way to minimise pain and inflammation after running long distances regularly. The MOVE+ is an exciting therapy that can be used conveniently anytime and anywhere, meaning you’re getting high-tech pain relief for a fraction of the price of a course of treatments. Seems like a great addition to any ultra runners kit if you suffer like I did.
