Friends to Ascend the Highest Peak in Southern UK 10 times in 24 hours for charity. The challenge will see them accumulating an elevation gain of over 14,500ft, 28% more elevation than summiting Everest from Base Camp, in lows as -2 degrees.
On Friday 4th February, four men from Penarth South Wales, Terry Rosoman (37), Fred Rosoman (32), Rob Pearce (37) and David Kirtland (38) will attempt to ascend and descend the highest point in the Southern United Kingdom, Pen Y Fan, 10 times in 24 hours whilst raising money for Mind, the mental health support charity.
“With lockdowns, restrictions, ever-changing rules and the fear of a rapidly spreading virus, people’s health and wellbeing have taken a huge hit over the last 2 years,” said Terry. “The sad truth is, people suffering from mental illness can find the circumstances surrounding COVID particularly hard to deal with. That’s why it is so important to support charities, like Mind, to help them continue their fantastic work supporting people with mental illness during this crucial time.”
Talking about the concept of the challenge, Terry explains why it’s a metaphor for life…
“The peaks and troughs of the challenge are supposed to represent the ups and downs, pressures and stressors, that we all experience through life. Hopefully, by taking on this challenge we will inspire others to tackle whatever problems they may be facing in life with resilience and fortitude.”
Working with the virtual running challenge brand, Rokman, the team believes that we can improve our health and wellbeing by pushing our limits…
“Physical challenges are journeys of self-discovery. By setting the most intimidating goal possible and working to achieve that goal, we not only improve physical fitness but also fortify our mental strength. By cultivating a deep inner resilience we can achieve a higher state of performance, wellbeing, and ultimately improve our overall quality of life.”
