Expedition foods new breakfast

Review

Ultrarunner magazine and I included are big fans of Expedition foods. For many years they have fueled my big appetite during adventures and Ultrarunning events providing me with the necessary kcals to perform at my best. So, when we got a call about a new meal and whether would we be interested in a sample, we jumped at the chance.

Rolled oats with diced Apple and blackcurrant in coconut milk were on the meal plan this morning and yes it tasted as good as it sounded. With a whopping 800kcals, I still managed to finish this meal wishing I had another ready for the following morning.

Not only did this meal taste great, but I also had it cooked and ready to be eaten within 5mins. Just add water cold or hot and you are ready to go. All can be eaten from the pouch saving you time on the washing up. With two handy tear points, I could reach the bottom of the pouch with the smallest of spoons without covering my hands in the food.

In a previous review of Expedition foods, I gave one negative and that was there wasn’t a visual measure. Expedition foods recommend adding around 350ml of water but with no way to measure that, I kind of guess.

The good thing about oats is that I can as much or as little as I like to create the best consistency for me, but I still feel a visual water measure marker would be very beneficial. Well done expedition foods, you are still my go-to when it comes to freeze-dried meals for my adventures. Always taste good, is lightweight, easy to prepare what’s not to love?

Big update  – They have now added fill lines to their pouches! A company that listens!! Well done Expedition foods.
