Courtney Dauwalter has remained victorious at UTMB for a third time following an incredible summer, including two back-to-back course records for 100 miles. The UTMB victory is the finale of an extraordinary summer by Dauwalter, winning what is considered the ‘Triple Crown’ of ultrarunning.

Dauwalter, who completed the acclaimed flagship event in Chamonix, was a favourite to win from the offset after her remarkable victory last year. As an athlete, she has become renowned in the ultrarunning world as a tenacious and technically gifted runner.

In June, Dauwalter made headlines at the famous Western States 100, breaking the course record with an astonishing time of 15:29:34. Three weeks later, she competed in the Hardrock 100, setting a new course record with 26:14:08.

She is the first athlete in history to win all three UTMB titles in the same calendar year. Dominating the female race, she completed the UTMB World Series Finals 2023 in an outstanding 23:29:14, around forty minutes ahead of second place.

Dauwalter led from the offset with little to no question of a win unless injury or illness occurred. She remained on top form for the race, crossing the finish line to the roars of an electric crowd that lined the streets of the small French town.

From America to Europe, she remains one of the greatest athletes of this generation. Over ten weeks, she has covered over 300 miles and 25,000m of elevation, supported by her husband, who remains her solid crew chief.

With many runners who have run alongside her describing her as superhuman, she defies standards and re-writes the rulebook for what athletes are capable of.
