What It Takes! LEJOG Female World Record! – Carla Molinaro

Carla Molinaro - Fastest Known Time

Carla Molinaro is a woman who knows where she wants to be in life, which is handy as she’s an ultrarunner and the current female Lands End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) Guinness World Record holder.  We caught up with Carla to find out about her background, running LEJOG the length of Great Britain, and her plans for the future.

How many years have you been running for?

I’ve been running properly for about 7 years but been doing it for a lot longer.  I started off doing 800 and 1500 metres round the fields at school then athletics until I went to university.

While I was at university, I started doing triathlons and I did them for about 10 years.  In 2013 I did the Glasgow Half Marathon and just loved the fact that I did not have to worry about where my bike or wetsuit were or if I had my goggles.  I felt that it was so easy to turn up and run and basically from then I just started running.

When did the transition take place into ultra-running and why did you get into it?
