Bigfoot 200 – Scott Jenkins

“A smile is something that we take for granted until we can’t do it anymore”

Phenomenal Welsh Ultra athlete Scott Jenkins kicked off his incredible 2021 running campaign with the Badwater 135 race in Death Valley, Scott caught up with Ultrarunner Magazine amid his epic adventure to raise money for operation smile, to discuss his latest challenge in his four-part race series, Bigfoot 200! …

…” I set myself that goal and I am currently mid-way through that challenge, though as with all great contest’s things do not always go to plan!” …

Background …

Originally from Cardiff, South Wales, I first began running Ultras back in 2010. The very first Ultra challenge that I took on was running 2,000 across America with a good friend and my younger brother, Rhys Jenkins, fellow Ultra fanatic and recent FKT holder on JOGLE!

We did a marathon every day for 75 days, starting in Boston, Massachusetts and finishing up in Austin Texas, to raise money for charity.

It was an exhausting but life-changing experience! From that challenge onwards I have tried each year since, to take on a different test (be that a race, an event, or an Ultra of my own creation) to raise money for charity.

“My perspective on life; As we get older and we start to look back on our lifetime, what exactly is it that we want to look back on? For me, that picture includes adventure and more than that, doing some good while I am at it!”
